Department of Pharmacology
Description
The department of Pharmacology of Mymensingh Medical College is one of the oldest department which started its activity since 1962 when the college was established. It is a center of excellence for learning Pharmacology and Therapeutics. In this department there is one Professor, One associate professor, two assistant professors, five lecturers, one medical officer and one pharmacist. It is one of the most spacious and well equipped department. There are both undergraduate like MBBS, BDS and postgraduate M.Phil (Pharmacology) courses. Postgraduate courses have been started since 2002. Academic service includes teaching MBBS student 3rd and 4th year, BDS 3rd year. Every 6 students are admitted in MPhil (Pharmacology) course. The department has carried out thesis work in collaboration with Microbiology, Biochemistry, Community medicine, Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Mymensingh Medical College and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Meidical University. Well-equipped Pharmacy lab and Experimental lab are available in this department. Computer loaded with different text books of Pharmacology. Power point presentations through multimedia and overhead projector are used for large scale teaching.
The pharmacy lab contains various teaching collections like drug sample and samples of different herbs.
