Welcome to the Department of Nephrology at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, Mymensingh, Bangladesh where comprehensive and cutting-edge care in the field of nephrology is provided. It was established in 2000 and since then the department is a leading center for academic excellence, patient care and research in renal medicine. Teaching Staff:

The esteemed department boasts a skilled and experienced team of faculty members, ensuring that the students receive top-notch education and training. The teaching staff includes Professor (1), Associate Professor (3), Assistant Professor (3), Resident Physician (1), Registrar (2), Assistant Registrar (2) and Medical Officers (4). These professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to the table, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for the students.

Infrastructure:

Out Patient Department (OPD): The out patient department is located at level -2 (Room No.-215), new building where patients with kidney diseases are managed with optimum care.

Clinical Ward: The department is equipped with a state-of-the-art clinical ward (Ward No.-36, Level-5) designed to provide optimum care for patients with renal diseases. The ward is staffed with specialized and trained doctors, experienced nurses and other healthcare professionals dedicated to ensuring the well-being of patients.

Dialysis Unit: We take pride in our separate dialysis unit equipped with advanced technology and staffed with skilled technicians. This unit is crucial for providing life saving renal replacement therapy for patients with acute or chronic kidney diseases.

Glomerulonephritis (GN) Clinic: We provide specialized services to patients with glomerulonephritis once weekly on every Monday at room number 502.

Intervention Room/Mini OT: Kidney biopsy has been performed in regular basis under ultrasound guidance at intervention room and other interventions are performed at mini OT.

Class Room and Library: There is a well-equipped class room for the students and decorated library with reading room.

Education

Undergraduate Education: The faculty members actively contribute to the education of MBBS students by conducting regular classes and overseeing their ward placements. MD (Nephrology) Residency Course: We offer a comprehensive MD (Nephrology) residency course providing aspiring nephrologists with the knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career in the field.

Postgraduate Training of the Students: Our postgraduate students receive rigorous training, both in theoretical knowledge and practical skills. We closely monitor their ward placements to ensure a holistic learning experience.

Internship Training:

Interns undergoing their ward placements receive valuable training from our department. We believe in nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful medical career.

Nephrological Interventions:

Department of Nephrology specializes in a range of nephrological interventions, including renal biopsy, jugular venous catheterization, femoral venous catheterization, permanent catheterization, arteriovenous fistula creation, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) etc. These interventions are performed with precision and care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the patients.
