Department of Pediatric: On 24th December 1968, Faculty of pediatric was first opened in ward-19 of MMCH with one General Pediatrics unit headed by Associate professor Dr. M A Qavi. Since than it is running under the umbrella of Medicine. Against sanctioned Pediatric bed of 26 only one post of Associate professor & one post for clinical assistant were created. In 1993, number of pediatric unit was increased to 03 with concomitant creation of new posts. Created new posts were one professor, one associate professor & 03 assistant professor, 02 registrars, 02 assistant registrars. Pediatric bed was raised to 36 but due to increased patient load Pediatric bed was locally increased to 80. On 5th July 2009, department of Pediatric Hemato-oncology was created with 01 faculty member (One associate professor) and 01 assistant registrar. On 5th October 2009, department of Neonatology was created with two units and 03 faculty members (One Professor, One Associate Professor & one Assistant Professor) and 01 registrar and 02 assistant registrars. Necessary Pediatric Neonatology bed was arranged locally. On 25th February 2010 department of Pediatric Nephrology was created with 03 faculty members (One as Professor, One Associate Professor & one Assistant Professor) and 01 assistant registrar. Necessary Pediatric Nephrology bed was arranged locally. Since, Pediatric Out Patient Department (OPD) is running with One R/P (Pediatrics) and two OPD medical officers. ORT corner, Lactation Management center, SAM corner, Shishu Bikash Kendra (SBK) are discharging their duty routinely. Along with under graduate MBBS course, at present two Post-graduate- DCH & MD (Pediatrics) courses are running; DCH course started since 2001 & MD (Pediatrics) course started since 2004.
